The Landscape

For geographers, given a frame of natural elements, the landscape represents the materialization in the geographical space of historical processes, articulated according to settlement mechanisms, cultural and artistic evidences, events of various kinds, evolution of production methods.  Between the natural aspects concerning the individuation of landscapes, the most important ones are the soil shapes and vegetation; between human aspects instead, the most important ones are the settlement and rural economy factors. The landscape so called, starts from the sensory and subjective observation, and as it is, it’s a sensitive landscape; but in the very moment during which we memorize it and we select some particularly evident and recurring elements, we perform an action of abstraction and we end to have indeed, a rational landscape.
